Quick Tasks
Cr Jay Morrison was elected as the Councillor for the Wendouree ward in October 2024 and it is his first time serving on Council.
He loves Ballarat's friendly community, country lifestyle, local history, parks and gardens, and believes our access to nature and services make it a wonderful place to live and raise a family.
Cr Morrison’s focus for the 2024-2028 Council term is on the delivery of essential services and infrastructure that the community needs, while protecting what makes our community special. He would like Council to address issues around cost of living, housing affordability and homelessness, while also supporting local jobs and industries. He is passionate about transparent decision making, supporting the most vulnerable in our community, and ensuring everyone has access to opportunities no matter their background.
He works for the Community and Public Sector Union leading a team across the country doing advocacy, campaigning and negotiations.
Cr Morrison is a current board member of BGT Jobs and Training Ballarat and has a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts (Drama).
In his free time, he volunteers with local community groups, hikes local trails, and visits the Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre.
