Australian Ex-Prisoners of War Memorial Commemorative Service

This annual service is held on the 2nd Sunday in February 2025. Wreath and book laying registration commences at 11am.

Time: Service to start at 11.30am - expected to conclude by 12.30pm

Where: Australian Ex-Prisoners of War Memorial, 1A Carlton St, Lake Wendouree

Access: Members of the public will have access to standing room only.  

Memorial information

The Australian Ex-Prisoners of War Memorial was opened on 6 February 2004 by General Peter Cosgrove AM, MC to acknowledge the pain and suffering that all Prisoners of War endured during their time in captivity, to commemorate the thousands of mates left behind and to acknowledge the sacrifice of families during wartime.  

Number of Australian Ex-POWs represented: 35,000 names on 130-metre-long granite wall.
