Mayor's message for Winter 2024
While the stories in this edition of ourballarat are quite varied, there is a common thread that shines through them all: the focus on providing services that set our community up for a better future.
From the opening of the Djila-tjarriu Community Hub in Alfredton which provides space for community groups to host events or meetings, to the Forest Rangers Soccer Club which is providing opportunities for social connection for junior players, this edition showcases the many faces and spaces across our great city that are helping us in our goal of fostering a healthy, connected and inclusive community.
You’ll meet one of the City of Ballarat’s kindergarten educators who is passionate about her role in helping Ballarat’s children get the best start in life. The article highlights how the State Government’s kindergarten reforms mean Ballarat will need more kindergarten educators in the future to give our kids the best start in life. Perhaps you could be one of them?
Following the ourballarat consultation conducted last year, you might notice some changes in the ourballarat magazine. Council officers have heard what you, our readers, had to say and are acting to implement your feedback.
You may notice some changes in this edition and future editions of ourballarat to reflect community priorities for the magazine. Council officers are also exploring ways to improve the online offering of ourballarat.
Find a warm spot and a cuppa, and enjoy the winter edition of ourballarat.
Cr Des Hudson,
City of Ballarat Mayor
