Loose litter is a major burden on our resources, with our staff and contractors spending more than 88,000 hours every year collecting stray litter. The Public Place CCTV camera program helps Victoria Police to respond to incidents in the CBD. The program aims to provide a safer environment and improve perceptions of safety by deterring potential offenders and helping police with crime detection.

Heritage
The municipality of Ballarat has a rich and living heritage. At least 40,000 years ago the Wadawurung and Dja Dja Wurrung Indigenous people called this country home.
