Ballarat Growth Areas

Ballarat is growing at a rapid rate and the City of Ballarat must plan for this growth. At current rates, Ballarat will have a population of more than 170,000 by 2041.

Ballarat’s existing and future growth areas will deliver a significant proportion of the houses needed for this growth.
Growth areas are typically implemented through Precinct Structure Plans (PSPs) and Development Contribution Plans (DCPs).

A PSP is a high-level master plan that guides greenfield development to create whole communities.  PSPs include layouts for roads, shopping centres, schools, parks, housing, employment, and connections to transport.

A DCP makes possible the timely delivery of infrastructure to new communities and funds major infrastructure projects such as drainage, roads, intersections, and recreational open spaces.
