LGBTIQA+ ADVISORY COMMITTEE – EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST NOW OPEN
We are seeking expressions of interest for up to 10 vacancies on the inaugural LGBTIQA+ Advisory Committee for a two-year term.
The committee will advise Council of the issues that LGBTIQA+ individuals and communities face in Ballarat. The committee will help with the development of Council’s LGBTIQA+ Action Plan and monitor, review and evaluate the ongoing implementation of the strategies within it.
Membership of the LGBTIQA+ Advisory Committee will seek to be as reflective as possible of people in LGBTIQA+ communities. This includes diversity in terms of sexualities, sex and gender identities, and also in terms of age, ability, Indigenous status, cultural and linguistic background, education, employment status and geographical area of residence.
The committee will meet for about 1.5 hours every two months.
Expressions of interest close 11pm, Monday 9 August.

Fireworks or sound and light show? Ending soon!
The City of Ballarat is seeking feedback from the community for their preference between an annual firework display or a sound and light show to commence in 2022. Community feedback will be considered in the decision-making process, along with a range of other factors. Survey closes 30th July.

We want to hear about how you use the Ballarat Transfer Station (the tip). In particular, we would like to know if you don’t use the Transfer Station, so that we can determine why that is, and work towards making it easier. Survey closes 15 August.
NOMINATE NOW FOR THE 2022 BALLARAT COMMUNITY AWARDS
Celebrate Ballarat’s outstanding achievers by nominating them for the 2022 City of Ballarat Community Awards.
The Ballarat Community Awards recognise the outstanding achievements of community members who have gone above and beyond in the last year to improve the lives of everyone in the region.
The annual awards are open in three categories:
- Ballarat Citizen of the Year - The Citizen of the Year is someone who has made an outstanding, but often quiet, contribution to our community and region.
- Ballarat Young Citizen of the Year - The Young Citizen of the Year must be under 25 years of age on 26 January 2022 and is someone already showing leadership, passion and commitment to giving to our community.
- Community Activity of the Year - The Community Activity of the Year Award is presented to the group or person who has staged the most outstanding community activity, either small or large, between 30 October 2020 and 29 October 2021.
The Ballarat Community Awards are provided by the Australia Day Committee (Victoria) and are administered by Local Government Authorities throughout Australia, on behalf of each council.
Nominations for the awards are now open and will close on Friday 1 November 2021.
The Awards will be presented at an official presentation and citizenship ceremony in January 2022.
