Mayors Message Thursday 1 July 2021

Update from the Mayor

Mayor’s Message Thursday 1 July 2021

Last week was a milestone in Council planning as a suite of highly influential plans for the future of our community were adopted. Through the tireless efforts of staff and Councillors as well as the outstanding community contribution this planning process involved, I think we have added real purpose to our future through our collective passion to see Ballarat grow and flourish in the way we want.

A new Annual Plan increases accountability and transparency and headlines the release of these key strategic planning documents:

  • The Draft Community Vision, developed from extensive community input through the Ballarat: Our Future engagement, it outlines the Ballarat community’s priorities for our city until 2031.
  • The Draft Council Plan describes Council’s high–level strategic goals for its four-year term, and informs the Annual Plan, which lists the projects, services, events and other initiatives that will be delivered and funded in 2021-22 .
  • The Draft Health and Wellbeing Plan sets out how the City of Ballarat can best advocate for and contribute to residents’ health and wellbeing in the next decade.

The documents, which form part of the Integrated Strategic Planning Framework, will be available via the City of Ballarat mysay page and written public submissions will be accepted for 26 days ending 9:00am Monday 19 July 2021. Any person requesting that they be heard in support of a submission is entitled to appear before a meeting of the Council either personally or by a person acting on their behalf at a Council meeting scheduled for Wednesday 21 July at 6.30pm.

On a closing note, it is school holidays, we are excited to have friends, family and visitors back again and if you haven’t already, rug up and enjoy our brilliant Winter Festival.

As always, keep safe, respect social distancing, use QR codes, wear masks where needed, check for any updates to restrictions and get tested immediately should you be feeling unwell.
