Community spirit at Christmas

The annual Carols by Candlelight at Mars Stadium is a much loved Ballarat staple. However, the iconic musical extravaganza almost didn’t happen this year. 

With a significant funding gap, the Committee for Carols by Candlelight put a call out for donations earlier this year, asking for support to help the show go on. The Ballarat community came to the rescue, with several local businesses coming on board as partners. 

Committee member Carolyn Bennett says she is thrilled the event will continue with support from the community.

“I just think bringing the community together at Christmas time and singing, having the joy of the music, having family and friends playing on the grass embodies the spirit of Christmas,” she says.

“We strive to bring this event to the community, which is always a beautiful moment leading up to Christmas.”

Ballarat Carols by Candlelight 

When: Sunday, 22 December 2024
Where: Mars Stadium, Ballarat
Time: Gates open at 5pm, with family-friendly pre-show entertainment, with the main concert to begin at 7pm.
