Ballarat to host AFL round 18 match GWS Giants v Sydney Swans, Saturday 17 July
City of Ballarat Mayor Daniel Moloney welcomed news Ballarat will host a second AFL match in as many weeks.
The AFL announced on Monday that the Round 18 match between the GWS Giants and Sydney Swans would be played at Ballarat’s Mars Stadium.
The match, a GWS Giants home game, will be played at 1.45pm on Saturday 17 July.
“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to host the GWS Giants at Mars Stadium for the second week running, this time against the Sydney Swans,” Mayor Moloney said.
“There was plenty of support for the Giants at last weekend’s match, and I know there’ll be many western Victoria and Melbourne-based Swans fans who’ll be keen to see their team in action in Ballarat for the first time.”
“We thank the AFL and the Victorian Government for their support of this additional match in Ballarat, and we look forward to welcoming the teams and their supporters to Ballarat this Saturday for what is a must-win clash for both sides.”
The match will be broadcast live by the Seven Network into New South Wales and the ACT and nationally on Foxtel and Kayo.
