Website launched to help keep residents and visitors in the know
A new website for residents to find out about events, things to do and where to eat and drink in Ballarat has launched this week.
Ballarat In The Know is the ultimate guide for residents to find out about the great things happening in their city and inspire them to invite their friends and family to visit.
Almost 50 per cent of tourists who visit Ballarat are motivated by their friends and family and look to them for inspiration.
City of Ballarat Mayor Cr Des Hudson said the new website aims to make exploring Ballarat when you have friends and family visiting easier.
“Ballarat locals have previously told us that they often ask friends and family to visit to coincide with an event, so the idea is that this new website provides them with a comprehensive calendar of events all-year round,” he said.
“It’s also full of useful tips and inspiration about where to eat and drink, and exploring some of the region’s lesser-known secrets.
“So next time you’ve got friends or family visiting, checkout Ballarat In The Know.”
An initiative of the City of Ballarat, Ballarat In The Know is a result of recent focus groups with residents who came together to share their experiences around planning for when their loved ones’ visit.
Ballarat In The Know delivers on the City of Ballarat’s Destination Marketing Plan 2021-2024 and aligns with goals two and five within the Council Plan 2021-2025.
“The simple act of inviting someone to visit you plays an important part in the recovery of the city’s visitor economy businesses, so it’s never been more important to share everything you love about Ballarat with your friends and family,” Cr Hudson said.
The Turret owner, LeRoy Hand said it is the biggest compliment seeing locals bring their visitors to his family’s café.
“We are so proud when we see our regulars bring their friends and families in for a meal to show off what Ballarat has to offer,” he said.
