Thank you for being “paws-itively” generous to Animal Shelter Appeal
Ballarat residents have been “paws-itively” generous to this year’s Animal Shelter Appeal.
City of Ballarat Deputy Mayor, Cr Amy Johnson said the response to the appeal, which began in early December, has been “overwhelming”.
“People have been extremely generous with donations of food, bedding and toys, and I want to thank everybody who has given to our appeal. It shows the true Christmas spirit is alive and well in our great city,” Cr Johnson said.
“But if people still want to donate, pet toys – especially for cats – would be great. Toys are always welcome.
“All donations will be shared with other local not-for-profit agencies which support people in need who have pets to care for, including people who are homeless and fleeing family violence.”
Ideas for pet toys include sniffle mats for dogs and laser pointers, toys with feathers, ping pong balls and crinkle balls for cats.
Donations can be dropped at the Ballarat Animal Shelter in Gillingham Place (off Gillies Street) up until 4pm on Thursday.
And the final word rests with our furry friends: “Thank you to those amazing and generous humans who have donated already, we really appreciate your generosity and wish you all a very Merry Christmas.”
