Summer Sundays returns to the Ballarat Botanical Gardens
Live music lovers rejoice as Summer Sundays returns to the Ballarat Botanical Gardens in January 2022.
The free Summer Sundays concerts will occur from 4-8pm on January 9, 16, 23 and 30 with an exceptional line-up of local, emerging, and big-name musical talent.
Ballarat Mayor, Cr Daniel Moloney said the calibre of artists for Summer Sundays was incredible and the bill featured a range of diverse talent.
“Some of the Summer Sundays highlights will include Harry James Angus from The Cat Empire and The Public Opinion Afro Orchestra – a mammoth 18-piece ensemble delivering contemporary African funk,” Cr Moloney said.
“I’m excited to see to Bumpy, a First Nations artist who has her own unique blend of soul, pop and jazz as well as the accomplished local lineup that includes Skyscraper Stan, Grove, Shadow Feet and The Sam Boon Quintet.
“After the live music hiatus for large periods over the past 20-months, it will be wonderful to see live performances again, particularly in amongst the beauty of the Ballarat Botanical Gardens.”
Local artist Tim Currie said he was excited to be performing at the Ballarat Botanical Gardens.
“After almost 2-years in and out of lockdown, I’m excited for the community to hear the music I’ve written throughout this period and perform on stage in my hometown,” he said.
City of Ballarat Councillor Peter Eddy said with four different acts each Sunday over the concert series, patrons are in for a musical treat.
“The sun is shining for Ballarat with such a magnificent line-up of local and noted guest talent,” Cr Eddy said.
“Music feeds the soul, and we look forward to enjoying plenty of it this January. Summer Sundays is a fantastic opportunity for our local artists to meet and collaborate with other metropolitan and regional acts locally.”
In addition to the free live music, a selection of Ballarat’s best food and beverage vendors will be onsite each week alongside the pop-up Garden Bar highlighting some of our region’s best wine, spirit, and beer producers.
Sunday 16 January will also see a spectacular fireworks’ display at Lake Wendouree, with the 15-minute show launching at 9:30pm.
Make sure to put Sunday, January 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 4-8pm in your calendar and embrace relaxed vibes and the live music of Summer Sundays at the Ballarat Botanical Gardens.
Summer Sundays is a free concert series and patrons will need to check-in on arrival. For further details visit the Summer Sundays Facebook page.
