Summer Sundays the perfect way to finish the week

Summer Sundays returns this weekend

With the first week of 2023 almost in the history books, it’s time to start thinking about how to round out your weekend.

And what better way is there than to head along to Summer Sundays?

The concert series is fully supported by the City of Ballarat and kicks off this weekend with four performances, two of which are by locals.

This week will be the first of four free January concerts held each Sunday.

Solo acoustic artist Cassells is certain to provide a chilled atmosphere while the other local artist, four-piece Pyrex, will bring their own unique style that takes shape from a love of classic folk, psychedelia, shoegaze and 90’s era music.

From the visiting artists, Steph Strings will provide the perfect summer vibes and seven-piece heavy groove combo The Seven Up’s will provide a blend of instrumental music, playing everything funk to spiritual jazz and through to psychedelic fuzz rock.

City of Ballarat Councillor, Cr Samantha McIntosh said the annual Summer Sundays event continued to be a fantastic staple on the Ballarat calendar.

“We’ve already seen the appetite for live music in recent times, with Spilt Milk and the Eureka Day events both bringing big crowds,” Cr McIntosh said.

“Summer Sundays is the perfect way to sit back and relax in the beautiful Ballarat Botanical Gardens and take in some fabulous music.

“There’s a great mix of local and emerging artists and the best part is it is absolutely free.”

In addition to live music, local and regional food and beverage vendors will offer a range of cuisine at each Summer Sundays event.

The pop-up Garden Bar, highlighting some of the Ballarat region’s best wine, spirit and beer producers will return in 2023.

The Bean Bag Lounge will also be back, although numbers are limited. Patrons are welcome to bring their own rug and picnic.

The event will be held from 4pm-8pm on Sunday 8 January.
