1000 DOORS WILL OPEN ON AUGUST 25
Art installation 1000 Doors – Door Within A Door will open its maze-like portals to the Ballarat public from Wednesday 25 August until Sunday 3 October. The event will be located in Armstrong Street South between the Town Hall and Myer.
1000 Doors – Door Within A Door was created by artists Christian Wagstaff and Keith Courtney, who were the masterminds behind the highly successful House of Mirrors, now located at MONA in Hobart.
Cost is $10 and free for children under five and adults over 75.

CALL FOR COMMUNITY GRANT APPLICATIONS
The City of Ballarat has several grant programs to support community groups, organisations and businesses seeking funding for programs, events, products, and services that bring a range of benefits to Ballarat.

The three grant programs include:
The Strategic Partnership Program - supports businesses, groups, and organisations to deliver high quality programs or events that deliver on Council’s strategic objectives. These programs and events may be funded over several years. Funding available for the 2021/22 year is $199,000, with applications available in August 2021 and February 2022, unless the full budget is allocated in August. Applications close at 5pm Sunday 5 September.
The Community Impact Grant Program - helps community groups and organisations to run projects, programs, events and other activities or to buy necessary equipment to promote community outcomes in:
- Environmental sustainability, healthy, connected, and inclusive communities promoting community-focused economic outcomes, innovation, and resilience.
There is $300,000 available in 2021/22 and applicants can apply for funding between $500 and $20,000. Applications also close at 5pm Sunday 5 September.
The Tourism Events Grant Program - is a monthly grant program open to for-profit organisations and businesses to address key Ballarat Events Strategy 2018-2028 priorities, which include encouraging increased tourism visitation, supporting Ballarat’s liveability and amplifying Ballarat’s brand as a tourism destination. Applicants can apply for funding of between $500 and $20,000. Applications are accepted any time (with assessment taking place monthly) until the full budget is allocated.
EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST SOUGHT FOR EXCITING HOSPITALITY OPPORTUNITY
The City of Ballarat is seeking a suitably experienced café / catering operator(s) to establish a presence across three attractive sites, two located within the heart of the Ballarat CBD - at the Ballarat Civic Hall and the Ballarat Library (within the new Gov Hub Precinct that houses various government departments). The third location is at one of Ballarat’s iconic tourist attractions, the Eureka Centre, at the National heritage-listed Eureka Stockade Memorial Park.
On offer to the successful tenant(s) is a fully equipped commercial kitchen at the Eureka Centre that would service its established and fully equipped café, whilst being the base of operations for a new café at the Ballarat Civic Hall and a coffee cart at the Ballarat Library within the Gov Hub Precinct.
This package maybe divided should applicants wish.
Expressions of Interest (EOI) are open now and close at 12 noon on Friday 10 September 2021. EOIs must be lodged electronically at www.eprocure.com.au/ballarat/ by the time and date specified. Late submissions will not be considered.
