WHITEHORSE ROAD
The City of Ballarat is undertaking capping rehabilitation works at the former landfill site on Whitehorse Road, in accordance with Council obligations under the Local Government Act 2020 and Environment Protection Act 2017.
The purpose is to further enhance the long-term protection of the environment and to ensure that any risks associated with the closed landfill continue to be mitigated. The work is authorized by the Environment Protection Authority Victoria and it is part of the Aftercare Management Plan that Council must follow.
Works will reduce slopes, prevent erosion and provide an enhanced surface area that will support the establishment of vegetation and allow for improved site maintenance. It is expected work will conclude in the first half of the year.
There are no health issues to the general public in relation to the activity and the City of Ballarat is working hard to mitigate any impact that the construction may have.

ST PATRICK’S POINT, LAKE WENDOUREE
The City of Ballarat will soon begin works to upgrade the car park and road at St Patrick's Point, Lake Wendouree.
These works will improve the safety and amenity of the area. The works include reconstructing the road pavement and the installation of new kerbing, a pedestrian crossing and drainage.
The exit and entry point to St Patrick's Point on the east side will be slightly realigned to improve sight distance for traffic exiting onto Wendouree Parade. The road and car park will be closed to public access throughout the works. The Steve Moneghetti track will be accessible with detours put in place when necessary.
As part of the works, three trees were removed this week. An independent arborist report was carried out on the trees. One tree was removed to prepare for the road realignment while two others were removed due to their poor condition. This project has an exemption permit through Heritage Victoria and will commence on or about Monday 27 March, 2023.
