NEW RULES FOR CITY OF BALLARAT POOLS
Ballarat Aquatic & Lifestyle Centre (BALC) is reminding parents to remain vigilant when supervising their children around water, with the following new rules recently being implemented across all City of Ballarat pools:

Children aged under 5 will be required to wear a pink wristband when swimming. The children must be accompanied into the water and within arm’s reach of a parent or guardian over the age of 16 at all times.

Children aged 5-9 will be required to wear a yellow wristband when swimming and must be constantly and actively supervised at all times. Parents and guardians must have clear, constant and direct access to their child at all times.
The updated policy applies for any child under 10 swimming at Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre, Eureka Outdoor Pool, Black Hill Outdoor Pool, Brown Hill Outdoor Pool and Buninyong Outdoor Pool.
CITY OF BALLARAT CHRISTMAS CLOSURES 2022
Customer service
City of Ballarat offices, including Customer Service, will be closed from Christmas Day, reopening Tuesday 3 January 2023 at 8.30am.
Ballarat Information Centre
The Ballarat Information Centre will be closed on Christmas Day, reopening Boxing Day at 10am.
Waste services
Kerbside waste, recycling and green waste collections will take place as per usual collection days. The Ballarat Transfer Station will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Ballarat Libraries
Ballarat and Wendouree Libraries will close from Christmas Day and will reopen on Tuesday 3 January 2023.
Sebastopol Library will be closed from Christmas Day to Tuesday 27 December and will reopen on Wednesday 28 December at 9.30am. The Sebastopol Library will also be closed on Monday 2 January 2023.
Online services will be available during this time, including the library’s downloadable collection and full details are available at centralhighlandslibraries.org.au.
Eureka Centre
The Eureka Centre will be closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day, reopening Tuesday 27 December at 10am.
The Ballarat Research Hub at Eureka will be closed from Friday 23 December, reopening Monday 9 January 2023.
Swimming pools
The Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre (BALC) and all outdoor pools will be closed on Christmas Day. For information on BALC public holiday hours and on outdoor pool opening hours, visit ballarataquaticcentre.com.
Art Gallery of Ballarat
The Art Gallery of Ballarat will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, reopening Tuesday 27 December at 10am.

FIREWORKS DISPLAY AT LAKE WENDOUREE
The City of Ballarat invites all residents and visitors to view to Fireworks display at Lake Wendouree on Sunday 15 January 2023. The annual fireworks display will commence at approximately 9:30pm (weather permitting), lasting approximately 15 minutes.
Public access to the isthmus at the end of the rowing course will be restricted from 9am on Friday 13 January until midnight on Sunday 15 January 2023 to enable the safe launch of the fireworks.
Lake Wendouree will be closed for all waterway activities from 3:30pm until midnight on 15 January 2023.
Residents are encouraged to take care of their pets during the fireworks display and keep them indoors if they are likely to be spooked by loud noise.
There will be no parking restrictions around Lake Wendouree, however please take care with the anticipated increased volume of traffic in the precinct.
