ROAD DISCONTINUANCE

Section 206, 207B and Schedule 10 Clause 3 Local Government Act 1989.

The City of Ballarat declares that by this notice it is considering a proposal to discontinue and sell a portion of a Council owned laneway located adjacent to the Ballarat Eye Clinic, as shown in the hatched area on the plan below (Proposal).

Under the Proposal, the discontinued laneway would be offered for sale to the adjacent Ballarat Eye Clinic.

Any person has a right to make a submission to the City of Ballarat on the Proposal in accordance with the Community Engagement Policy.

Written submissions to Council must be received by 5pm on Tuesday 17 September 2024 and should preferably be by email to info@ballarat.vic.gov.au, addressed to the Property Coordinator, City of Ballarat and clearly marked ‘Submission – Proposed Laneway Discontinuance and Sale: Ballarat Eye Clinic’.

Alternatively, submissions can be posted to the Property Department, City of Ballarat, PO Box 655, Ballarat VIC 3350.

Submissions form part of the public record of the meeting (including any personal information you provide) and may be appended to any future Council Agenda, which are then published on the City of Ballarat’s website.

Under the Proposal, the discontinued land would be reserved for community recreation purposes and managed by the City of Ballarat. The additional land would provide for further community utilisation of the reserve.

Any person has a right to make a submission to the City of Ballarat on the Proposal in accordance with the Community Engagement Policy.

MORGAN STREET SEBASTOPOL

Reconstruction works on Morgan Street are progressing. Asphalting and line-marking were recently carried out, however, significant machinery and trucks will continue to operate in the area for the next three to four weeks (pending weather) and the section of the road will remain closed during this time.

Works to follow include landscaping around the new retention basins, along with fencing, nature strip, footpath and drainage to be finished. Planting will also be carried out throughout September and October.

 

NOTICE OF ROADWORKS FOR LEARMONTH STREET

The Victorian Government is investing $1.5 million to improve traffic flow and safety on Learmonth Street, Ballarat, between Cuthberts Road and Sturt Street (Remembrance Drive). This project is being delivered by the City of Ballarat.

Improvements will be made to the Learmonth Street and Cuthberts Road intersection and Learmonth Street and Sturt Street intersection.

Works are now underway with speed and lane reductions in place. The works are expected to be completed in November.

Traffic delays are expected. The full road closure for Learmonth Street will be in place from late-August to mid-September. Motorists, particularly heavy vehicles, are encouraged to seek alternate routes where possible.
