NOTICE OF ROADWORKS FOR LEARMONTH STREET

Traffic flow and safety improvements are being made to the Learmonth Street and Cuthberts Road intersection and Learmonth Street and Sturt Street intersection.

Works are now underway with speed and lane diversions in place in both directions between Sturt and Cuthbert Streets.

An additional full road closure for Learmonth Street will take place in early October for asphalting works, weather permitting. Motorists, particularly heavy vehicles, are encouraged to seek alternate routes where possible. The works are expected to be completed in November.

This project is being funded by the State Government and delivered by the City of Ballarat.

BRIDGE MALL REDEVELOPMENT ROADWORKS

The City of Ballarat is installing bluestone kerb in Grenville Street as part of works to create the new entrance into the Bridge Mall.

While the works are taking place, Grenville Street is temporarily closed from Sturt Street to Curtis Street.

The works are due to be completed in November. Traffic management and detours are in place.

Local businesses are open. Please continue to support all Bridge Mall, Curtis Street and surrounding Sturt Street businesses.

NEVER BIN YOUR BATTERIES!

Did you know that used batteries can leak toxic substances and spark fires in our waste collection vehicles, at our landfill or at a recycling facility?

This is not only dangerous for our waste management staff, but the toxic substances contained in batteries are harmful to you, your family and the environment.

Unfortunately, in the past month there have been two incidents where batteries have started to smoulder at the Ballarat Regional Landfill.

Instead, you can dispose of and recycle your batteries by:

  • Taking your batteries to a designated collection point to ensure precious resources like lithium, cobalt and manganese can be reused to make batteries and other metal products.

  • Dropping your batteries for free at the Gillies Street Transfer Station or visit bcycle.com.au for more locations.

NOTICE OF WORKS

Works to the footpath alongside the wetlands at Zoo Drive in the North Gardens Reserve, opposite Lake Wendouree, will take place from late October to early November, weather permitting.

The 115m of footpath improvement works will raise the height of the footpath, preventing the overflow that takes place across the path and into the North Gardens Reserve during periods of wet weather.

The footpath network within the wetlands will remain open and accessible to the community.

Pedestrian management will be in place.
