Planning Scheme amendment C235ball Miners Rest Township Plan is on exhibition from Thursday 17 November 2022 to Monday 19 December 2022. The amendment proposes to implement the key land use planning directions of the Miners Rest Township Plan (November 2019) into the Ballarat Planning Scheme. The Miners Rest Township Plan aims to protect the compact, rural township character of Miners Rest through a variety of strategies and actions including rezoning.

ROAD CLOSURE 

The pop-up green space in Albert Street will return for this year’s Christmas in Ballarat campaign. Albert Street will be closed between Sturt Street and Lewis Street (south-bound) from Tuesday 15 November 2022 for the installation of the Santa’s musical workshop and pop-up green space. The road will reopen on Wednesday 4 January 2023.  

FREE GREEN WASTE WEEK – PREPARE FOR FIRE SEASON NOW   

   

Between Saturday 12 November and Sunday 20 November, residents can drop off their domestic green waste free of charge at City of Ballarat Transfer Station.   

  

Residents who bring non-green waste and mixed loads will be charged at normal rates.  

  

The City of Ballarat Transfer Station is located at 119 Gillies Street South Alfredton.  

During November, City of Ballarat Transfer Station opening hours are 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday and 10am to 4pm, Saturday and Sunday.  

HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE 2023/24 ANNUAL BUDGET   

  

Ballarat residents are being encouraged to have their say on the City of Ballarat’s proposed 2023/24 Annual Budget.   

  

During November, The City of Ballarat is seeking residents’ feedback regarding their priorities within the Council Plan 2020 – 2025.   

There are two ways residents can provide feedback — via an online survey or at one of the scheduled drop-in sessions.  

  

The online survey is open now and will be available until Friday 25 November.

ROAD DISCONTINUANCE 

Section 206, 207B and Schedule 10 Clause 3 Local Government Act 1989  

Ballarat City Council declares that by this notice it is considering a proposal to discontinue the roads located within the property known as 28-32 Peel Street North, Bakery Hill, as shown in the marked areas on the plan below (Proposal).   

Under the proposal, the discontinued land will be retained by Council for consolidation purposes. 

Any person has a right to make a submission to Council on the Proposal in accordance with Section 223 of the Act. 

Written submissions to Council under Section 223 of the Act and must be received 5pm on 8 December 2022 and should preferably be email to info@ballarat.vic.gov.au, addressed to the Property Department, City of Ballarat and clearly marked ‘Submission – Proposed Road Discontinuance: 28-32 Peel Street North, Bakery Hill’. 

Alternatively, submissions can be posted to the Property Department, City of Ballarat, PO Box 655, Ballarat VIC 3350.  

Any person requesting to be heard in support of their written submission is entitled to appear in person or by a person acting on their behalf before a committee of Council, the day, time and place of which will be advised. 

Submissions form part of the public record of the meeting (including any personal information you provide) and may be appended to any future Council report, which are then published on Council’s website.
