PUBLIC ART EXPRESSIONS OF INTERESTS

There are a number of open Expressions of Interests for local creatives to submit for work around Ballarat. 

  • Ballarat’s Intercultural Garden – the empty plinth project, to display sculptural artwork in the new gardens. Expressions of Interest close 20 January 2025.

  • Seedpod – an opportunity for live arts practitioners to be supported by regionally based live arts company Punctum. Expressions of interest close on 28 January 2025.

  • Projection Masterclasses – opportunities for eight artists to develop their skills in projection art via workshops and mentoring. Expressions of Interest close on 17 January 2025.

  • Unicorn Lane – opportunities throughout 2025 for artists to display their art in the public gallery.

LOW WATER LEVELS – LAKE LEARMONTH

The City of Ballarat, as declared waterway manager for Lake Learmonth, advises that Lake Learmonth is unsafe for water-skiing and high-speed boating activities due to low water levels.

Any vessel operators using the lake are recommended not to exceed a speed limit of 5 knots. Signs have been installed at the lake to warn vessel operators.

 

EBDEN STREET RESERVE CAR SPACES REDUCED

From Tuesday 14 January 2025 until the end of Ballarat Station Upgrade works in 2026, approximately 100 car spaces will be closed in the Ebden Street Reserve, and approximately 60 car spaces will remain open to the public. For more information, visit www.bigbuild.vic.gov.au.

  • Assemble a kit with essentials like water, Cash, Mobile phone charger, non-perishable food, first-aid supplies, medications, flashlights, batteries, and important documents.

  • Store the kit in an easily accessible location.

Know your Risk

  • Identify potential emergencies in your area (e.g., bushfires, floods, storms).

  • Assess vulnerabilities in your home and make necessary improvements.

Evacuation Plan

  • Designate safe exits from each room and a central meeting point outside the home.

  • How will you contact each other during an emergency?

  • Decide on an out-of-town contact person for all family members to reach.
