Planning update

Consideration of hotel planning permit deferred
Ballarat City Council has deferred a decision on a planning permit application for the proposed development of a six-storey residential hotel at 107 Doveton Street South.
The decision followed advice that the applicant, Beveridge Williams and Co, Pty Ltd had submitted amended plans.
Council at its Planning Delegated Committee meeting voted to defer consideration of the planning permit pending assessment of the proposed amended planning permit application.
Amendment C212ball abandoned
Councillors also unanimously voted to abandon a proposed planning scheme amendment C212ball for a heritage overlay on land on Lofven Street, Nerrina that previously housed an old mining shed.
The shed was partially demolished in 2019 prompting an interim protection order on the site, before being demolished due to safety concerns in September 2020.
Council Officers sought independent advice from a heritage consultant in regard to the heritage value post demolition and determined the land was no longer considered significant at the local level.
