Planning for community infill
At a Planning Delegated Committee meeting on Wednesday 13 April 2022, Ballarat City Council requested an additional briefing to occur before making a decision on the planning permit application for a proposed infill development at 17 Park Street, Wendouree.
The application (PLP/2021/566) has been placed on hold pending the additional briefing.
It proposed the construction of five townhouses and a reduction in car parking requirements.
Community submissions were heard during the meeting, covering areas including neighbourhood character, intensity of development, building design, loss of vegetation, construction impact, and amenity and traffic impact.
The planning assessment report considered Ballarat’s projected population growth and the need for infill developments.
The assessment also noted the area is within a residential growth zone, which is intended for population growth.
Following Council’s decision not to accept the Officers recommendation, Councillors requested a briefing at a later date for further information.
Following the briefing, the matter will return to the Planning Delegated Committee where the ultimate decision will be made to grant or refuse the planning permit.
All parties to the planning application will be contacted to advise of next steps, including the applicant who will have the opportunity to reconsider its application.
