During the construction period there will be traffic management arrangements in place. However, the carpark will remain accessible at all times. Please take note of all traffic management in the area.

A $1.5 million Eastwood Street car park upgrade will begin on Monday, January 17.
The works will mainly involve replacement of the existing asphalt surface and new line marking in the car park between Eastwood Street and Little Bridge Street.
The project also includes works to revitalise the area with new tree plantings, new traffic islands and better pedestrian access from the shops along the Eastwood Street side of the car park to Little Bridge Street.
Works to enhance the car park entry and plaza at Little Bridge Street have also been incorporated into this project.
The extent of works to be undertaken includes:
- asphalt resurfacing
- concrete kerb and channel construction
- line marking
- landscaping
- tree planting
- wombat crossing construction
- minor drainage and associated works.
Ballarat Excavation and Transport has been contracted to carry out the works which are estimated to take six to eight weeks to complete, weather permitting.
During the construction period there will be traffic management arrangements in place. However, the carpark will remain accessible at all times. Please take note of all traffic management in the area.
The main asphalt works will be undertaken at night to minimise disruptions for shoppers and business owners.
Some trees were removed this week in preparation for new tree plantings.
The project is mainly being funded through the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) program, along with funding from the Bakery Hill Urban Renewal Plan and Coles Supermarkets.
City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Daniel Moloney welcomed the LRCI funding and said it would provide a much-needed boost to the car park.
“The Eastwood Street car park has required a lot of maintenance over recent years, particularly patching up potholes, and it is long overdue for a makeover,” Cr Moloney said.
“We will work hard to ensure there is as little disruption as possible to both shoppers and traders during this period but I’m sure everyone will be looking forward to a really positive outcome once the works are complete.”
