New City of Ballarat Council declared
The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) finalised the vote count this afternoon and declared the nine councillors-elect who will form the City of Ballarat Council.
The City of Ballarat welcomes the following councillors-elect who will represent the City of Ballarat for the 2024-2028 term:
- Alfredton Ward: Damon Saunders
- Brown Hill Ward: Ted Lapkin
- Buninyong Ward: Ben Taylor
- Central Ward: Samantha McIntosh
- Delacombe Ward: Tracey Hargreaves
- Golden Point Ward: Tess Morgan
- North Ward: Jim Rinaldi
- Sebastopol Ward: Des Hudson
- Wendouree Ward: Jay Morrison
City of Ballarat Chief Executive Officer, Evan King congratulated the elected candidates and said that he looked forward to welcoming the incoming Ballarat City Council group.
“I congratulate our nine incoming councillors who have each received a clear mandate from their community to represent their needs on Council. I look forward to working with each Councillor to achieve a better, stronger and more sustainable Ballarat.”
The new councillor group will be officially sworn in at the Oath/Affirmation of Office Ceremony on Monday 18 November at 6.30pm, with the meeting to elect the Mayor and Deputy Mayor to follow immediately afterwards.
The Oath/Affirmation of Office Ceremony and the Mayor and Deputy Mayor Election meeting will both be livestreamed with a link available at Council’s website at www.ballarat.vic.gov.au.
The first scheduled monthly Council meeting of the 2024-2028 term will be held on Wednesday 27 November 2024, with the final meeting of the calendar year on Wednesday 11 December 2024. Both meetings will commence at 6.30pm and will be livestreamed with a link made available at Council’s website closer to the date.
