Next week the AusCycling 2021 Federation University Road National Championships return to Ballarat from February 3 to 7.
It’s always exciting to have the cycling in our city, but after the challenges of the past 12 months, the opportunity to once again experience the thrills and unique atmosphere that comes with this prestigious event is an especially enticing prospect. The Championships, usually held in the first week of January but postponed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, will feature Australia’s best cyclists in the elite, under 23, under 19, para-cycling, masters, club and intellectual impairment categories.
Ballarat has nurtured a long and successful partnership with AusCycling to enhance our reputation as a cycling city and to deliver a world-class event that just gets bigger and better every year.
That partnership has never been more important than this year, and the City of Ballarat has worked closely with AusCycling and GTR, Federation University and the Department of Health and Human Services to ensure in 2021 we can deliver the same spectacular event for riders, spectators and event workers, but in a COVID safe environment.
From the gruelling Mt Buninyong King of the Mountain climb to the majestic charm of Ballarat’s Sturt Street, all the action will be kerbside for a five-day program of entertainment and elite racing beamed around the globe.
The 2021 Championships are also a perfect fit for the Summer of Fun in Ballarat, showcasing our award winning attractions, outstanding food and drink offerings in our city this summer.
For all 2021 Federation University Road National Championships information, visit the official website at roadnationals.org.au.
Don’t miss your chance to see elite cycling action right here in our backyard from next Wednesday.
