Mayors Message Thursday 15 July 2021

Update from the Mayor

Mayor’s Message Thursday 15 July 2021

Community consultation plays a critical part in helping shape the City of Ballarat’s future direction and decision making. This week provides the last opportunity to have your say on three key plans:

  • Draft Community Vision 2021-2031
  • Draft Council Plan 2021-2025
  • Draft Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan 2021-2031

In order to have your say I would encourage you to visit the MySay page at https://mysay.ballarat.vic.gov.au/. Submissions must be received before 9am Monday 19 July.

Another opportunity this week on the MySay page is to have your say in helping the City of Ballarat determine whether we should continue to present an annual fireworks display or opt for a sound and light show as part of this year’s events’ strategy.

A public survey launched on the City of Ballarat’s MySay page is asking residents to choose between the two options and three potential timelines for the entertainment to be linked to an existing event.

A highlight this week was the receipt of $100,000 from the Victorian Government’s 2020-21 Community Cricket Program to help fund a new outdoor cricket training facility at the home of the VRI Delacombe Cricket Club at Doug Dean Reserve. This will be a fantastic project in supporting more players from all ages and backgrounds to get into cricket in a key Ballarat growth area.

The past week’s unfortunate NSW COVID experience amplifies the need for us to get vaccinated and continue to take necessary precautions to keep our community safe.
