Hard to believe we’ve reached December once again, and the city is truly in full festive swing.

You can't miss the glittering decorations around the CBD and it’s great to see so many people out and about and enjoying the festivities.

All the favourites that you have come to know and love have returned once again, including the decorations, the Christmas in Ballarat Art Trail, the Albert Street Christmas activation, free Christmas workshops, live street music, entertainment and even a range of sensational shopping events.

Every year Ballarat comes alive for the festive season, but this year there is even more reason to enjoy the Christmas cheer.

I encourage all Ballarat locals to take some time and explore everything we have this year – there’s just so much to see and do.

A new addition this year is Santa’s telephone box in the Ballarat Information Centre, where you can leave a personal message for Santa including your wish list!

The activation on Albert Street, near Parent Place, is Ballarat’s Magical Christmas Emporium, it features interactive singing Christmas trees, an engaging facade and some automated surprises! It’s also been designed by local artist, Zlatko Balazic.

And for all your Christmas shopping, don’t forget the Bridge Mall, that will come alive with holiday cheer through a 12 Days of Christmas celebration, featuring themed activities and performances.

This will run from December 9 to December 24, with daily mid-week activities. Featuring a different performance every day associated with the traditional carol The 12 Days of Christmas, plus visits from Santa and other activities on the weekend. Make sure you follow Shop the Bridge on Facebook to see all the events and sales during December.

Finally, don’t forget to mark 9.30pm on New Years Eve in your calendars to see the Lake Wendouree firework spectacular! More details can be found at ballarat.vic.gov.au.
