Mayor's Message - Friday 28 October

As the final weeks of my second term as Mayor of the City of Ballarat start to count down, I have noticed that there has been little time for reflection with so many innovative and proactive projects happening.
One of these is Snap Send Solve, the easy-to-use mobile app launched this week to enable residents to report local issues to the City of Ballarat.
The City of Ballarat has partnered with Snap Send Solve, an independent, third-party app used by local governments and major service providers, such as Telstra and Central Highlands Water, across Australia and New Zealand.
One area the City of Ballarat continually looks to improve is its ability to identify and fix problems expediently. Too often issues such as illegal rubbish dumping, graffiti or public property damage are not known for some time, but with Snap Send Solve someone can take up to five photos and provide the GPS location of the problem and in less than 30 seconds have submitted the issue to the City of Ballarat. The significant benefit to the City of Ballarat is that it then immediately sees and understands the problem and can address the issue.
This streamlining of reporting and effectively increasing the ‘eyes on the ground’ we have for advising of local issues is brilliant in giving residents the ability to work with the City of Ballarat so they can fix problems sooner and more cost effectively.
I would certainly encourage everyone to download Snap, Send, Solve, through the App Store or on Google Play, and help us fix problems fast.
As we face a soggy start to summer, let’s look at the bright side in how green and lush the parks and gardens of Ballarat are looking. I would encourage anyone starting to think about where Christmas lunch will be this year, to invite friends and family to join them in Ballarat to enjoy the host of summer activities and fine hospitality, and most importantly, help support our local businesses.
Mayor
Daniel Moloney
