Do you know of an unsung hero worthy of a Community Award?

We are on the lookout for Ballarat’s outstanding achievers who have gone above and beyond to make our city the best it can be.

The yearly awards recognise the excellent achievements of our residents who contribute to enriching the lives of others.

It is important to celebrate and acknowledge the important contributions people make in our community that can sometimes go unnoticed.

They often don’t seek or want attention but it’s important that our community recognises their contributions because they make Ballarat such a special place to live, work and invest.

This year there are three different categories for the 2023 awards;

  • Ballarat Citizen of the Year, for a person that has contributed to our community, over a lifetime or a specific event or need.
  • Ballarat Young Citizen of the Year, for an emerging leader under 25 years old.
  • Community Event of the Year, for a group or person that has staged an outstanding small or large community activity.

Nominations for the awards are now open and will close on Monday 20 November 2023.

I encourage you to nominate your friend, neighbour or colleague that is an unsung hero as part of the City of Ballarat Community Awards.

The award winners will be announced at an official presentation in January 2024 in Ballarat.

The Ballarat Community Awards are provided by the National Australia Day Council and are administered by local councils throughout Australia.
