Mayor’s Message - Friday 2 August 2024
Ballarat is an inclusive city where diversity is not only accepted but welcomed and celebrated. Our city values the contribution of all people, and our spaces, places, programs, events and services are designed to be welcoming and accessible to all.
We recognise the significant contribution that our ageing residents make to the fabric of our community. We are committed to supporting and empowering them to feel confident to participate fully in life however they choose.
We are now calling on all residents to thank an inspirational older person in their lives with nominations open for the 2024 Ballarat Seniors Awards.
The annual awards highlight and recognise the contribution of older people to the Ballarat community.
Every year we see such wonderful examples of people who do some incredible things in Ballarat.
Growing older is a lifelong process. As we age, we gather a lifetime of knowledge, skills and life experience which is highly valued and should be celebrated and shared.
I encourage everybody to have a think about somebody in their life who deserves recognition. Whether it is a friend, a relative, a colleague or anybody you have come across in daily life, I’m sure everybody knows somebody who is doing something special.
Nomination forms can be downloaded from the City of Ballarat website, with hard copies available at the City of Ballarat Customer Service Centre in the Phoenix Building at 225 Armstrong Street, or at the central Ballarat Library, Wendouree Library or Sebastopol Library.
Nominations close on Monday 16 September, so please start considering an application today.
- Mayor Cr Des Hudson
