Last week we launched our largest road maintenance blitz with $6.294 million allocated to repairing potholes, cracks and general deterioration on our local road network.

We know the state of our roads is of utmost importance to our community, and we will continue to invest in maintaining our roads for everyone to use.

This is the largest annual investment in Ballarat’s road maintenance and will improve the quality, safety and reliability of our road network.

And this month we’ve celebrated an important milestone for the Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre, an incredible 30 years of service to the Ballarat community.

To celebrate, there is a free open day this Saturday 14 December from 1pm to 4pm. You can explore the facilities and take part in group classes for adults and children.

We are very proud of the impact the Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre has had on the residents of Ballarat and the wider region each day.

We hope the open day will give people a chance to come and celebrate with their family and friends or perhaps re-visit the centre if you haven’t been in a while.

The current priority at BALC is to develop two new fully accessible Changing Places facilities, with construction to begin in 2025.

And finally, you will soon be receiving the latest edition of ourballarat in your letterbox, which features a jam-packed collection of upcoming events, feature stories, behind-the-scenes videos and consultation results.

The cover story allows readers to peek behind the curtains of the newly redeveloped Her Majesty’s Theatre.

You’ll also find in this edition stories about the new Animal Shelter, the restoration of the much-loved Hercules statue in the Ballarat Botanical Gardens, and how the Soft Plastics Pilot Program is tracking.

You can also read the ourballarat via the City of Ballarat website or pick up a hard copy at any of our facilities. Happy reading!
