How well is the City of Ballarat working with and for our community?

The City of Ballarat has begun a 6-week Community Satisfaction Survey to understand how well Council is delivering services to the community. 

As a result, some residents may receive a telephone call from today until mid-March from an independent market research agency, National Field Services. 

Similar surveys will be undertaken across all other Victorian councils in the coming months as part of the mandatory Local Government Performance Reporting Framework. 

The survey ensures the City of Ballarat is measuring and reporting on its performance to promote transparency and accountability, and to help improve service delivery. 

The survey will involve conducting 400 interviews from a representative sample of residents and will cover a wide range of topics such as overall performance, value for money, community consultation, making community decisions, sealed local roads, waste management, customer service and overall council direction. 

There will be two additional open-ended questions added to the survey seeking community’s views on what Council needs to do to improve overall performance and what Council needs to do to improve customer service.

All responses will be confidential, with overall results published mid-year. 

City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Tracey Hargreaves said it was vitally important to get feedback from the community on service delivery. 

“Our new Councillor group has been elected to represent the people, so it’s critical we know the ways we can make our services better and more effective. Council is passionate about moving the dial on community satisfaction.” Cr Hargreaves said. 

“This survey is one way of helping us to determine how well we are working with and for our community and where we can make some improvements."

“I would encourage anyone who gets a call from National Field Services to take part in the survey and provide us with your feedback. Individual responses are confidential and only the overall results are shared with the City of Ballarat.”
