Have your say on a Draft Landscape Management Plan for Binney Reserve
Black Hill residents and the wider community are invited to have your say on a Draft Landscape Management Plan for Binney Reserve.
The draft plan will be available to view and provide feedback online at mysay.ballarat.vic.gov.au from Thursday 26 November to Monday 14 December.
The City of Ballarat will also host a drop in session at Binney Reserve on Thursday 26 November, from 5.30pm to 6.30pm. The session will be an opportunity to share your thoughts, ask questions and provide local knowledge and viewpoints while on the site.
Earlier this year an independent audit of the reserve recommended the removal of pine trees due to an unacceptable risk to public safety. Two trees which were assessed as an immediate risk were removed in October, but no further works are planned at the site until the landscape management plan is finalised.
The draft plan proposes to replant the site with local native trees, shrubs and ground covers.
Replanting with local native species will benefit the biodiversity of the Black Hill area and return vegetation types that were there before the gold rush era.
The landscape management plan will be finalised in early 2021 after all feedback has been considered.
