Renowned didgeridoo artist, Mitch Tambo will make a guest appearance at a free intercultural youth gathering at View Point, Lake Wendouree as part of Harmony Fest 2021.
The event is billed as a celebration of Ballarat’s young people and intercultural diversity through music, song and dance.
Presented by the City of Ballarat Youth Services and the Ballarat and District Aboriginal Co-operative, the three-hour event from 3.30pm-6.30pm features young performers and emerging artists.
Ballarat Mayor, Cr Daniel Moloney says the event is an example of how Ballarat is celebrating its rich cultural heritage with a program of events that appeal to and cater for all age groups.
Mitch Tambo, a proud Gamilaraay/ Birra Gubba man, who gained national attention as a contestant on the 2019 season of ‘Australia’s Got Talent’, will also perform at the Harmony Fest's virtual gala event on Friday evening.
This Gala event will be livestreamed from the Ballarat Trades Hall on Friday, 26 March from 7pm-8.30pm.
Ballarat residents are being encouraged to stream the Gala event on their TVs and dance in their loungerooms!
Cr Moloney said while COVID had dictated a different format this year, the gala event remained a true celebration of Ballarat’s diverse multicultural communities and the huge impact they have on our City through global skills, experiences and innovation.
“This is what makes us a City rich in culture,” he said.
This year’s Harmony Fest concludes on Sunday 28 March with a virtual choir - a welcoming community of students and volunteer tutors- and a Centre for Multicultural Youth video series, capturing the thoughts and experiences of young people across Ballarat, Horsham and Nhill.
