Follow the Christmas Art Trail for some festive fun

Christmas Art Trail

Ballarat’s CBD has come alive this festive season with a new Christmas Art Trail.

Commissioned by the City of Ballarat, the trail features unique artworks by five local artists.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to follow the trail through the Ballarat CBD, snap a selfie with Santa, pat the reindeer or stand under the mistletoe.

The trail features artworks by:

  • Dillon Naylor – Sundee Arvo is a nostalgic window into a Ballarat Christmas of the past.
  • Tegan Crosbie – Under the Mistletoe is an interactive piece inviting participants to share a kiss under the mistletoe.
  • Caroline Keys – Selfie with Santa is a fantasy trompe l’oiel window on the side of the Ballarat Town Hall that gives people the chance to post with an Aussie Santa being photobombed by one of his cheeky elves.
  • Sally Gregory – Small Beginnings is inspired by the idea all big things come from small beginnings, as with our most beloved little reindeer.
  • Lucy Frith – Christmas morning in Ballarat is inspired by the rush of excitement we all feel on Christmas Day.

City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Daniel Moloney said he had already seen lots of people interacting with the imaginative and festive artwork.

“Under the City of Ballarat Creative Cities Strategy, we really encouraged our creative community to make Ballarat feel like Christmas this year – especially after such a difficult two years for the whole community,” Cr Moloney said.

“This art trail will really put people in a fun and festive mood.”

The Christmas Art Trail will be on show until Saturday 25 December.
