Contracts worth $3.8 million awarded by Ballarat City Council
Three large contracts worth $3.8 million were awarded at the 24 November Ballarat City Council meeting.
These include a $1.469 million contract to improve the Coles/Woolworths car park from Eastwood Street to Little Bridge Street.
The works include replacing the existing carpark surface, new traffic islands and trees and new line marking, along with better pedestrian access from the shops along the Eastwood Street car park side to Little Bridge Street.
The contract has been awarded to Ballarat Excavation and Transport, with 100 per cent of the total project value to use labour, materials, plant and equipment sourced locally.
This project has shared funding of $1.3 million from the Federal Governments Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program Phase 2 and $300,000 from the City of Ballarat.
The second project is a $1.079 million tender to improve the Buninyong streetscape in Warrenheip St between Eyre and Forest streets, and Learmonth Street, west of Warrenheip Street.
Ballarat-based Enoch Civil Pty Ltd has been awarded the contract to upgrade the streetscape for improved accessibility for local businesses and an improved public space for community connection and event hosting.

Enoch Civil will employ eight full-time local jobs during the project, with nearly 99 per cent of the project using local labour, materials, plant and equipment.
The project is funded by $651,000 from the City of Ballarat’s 2021/22 Capital Works Program.
Bendigo Bank’s Buninyong branch will provide $100,000 for improved pedestrian access, $300,000 is allocated from the State Government’s Regional Infrastructure Fund and Public Transport Victoria is providing nearly $28,000 to upgrade the existing bus stop.
The third project is a four-month contract for major patch asphalt, awarded to Bitu-Mill, which has a Ballarat depot, for $1.258 million.
The contract involves asphalt repairs of various road defects to meet the City of Ballarat’s Road Management Plan and improve road conditions.
The tender includes patching 17,000 metres square of sealed roads identified during reactive and proactive road inspections plus 790 metres square asphalt overlays on the sealed road network.
The project is being funded from the 2021/22 Road Maintenance Works Program.
