Communications during the 2024 Local Government Council election

In the lead-up to Council elections on 26 October, the City of Ballarat is in ‘Caretaker Period’ from 12 noon on Tuesday 17 September until 6pm on Saturday 26 October.  

During this period, to comply with our Election Period Policy and the Local Government Act 2020, communications activity from the City of Ballarat will be limited.  

This includes the temporary removal of all previous news items on our website and social media posts published from 1 July through to September 17, as well as the online Spring edition of ourballarat and Councillor webpages.

Comments on social media will also be limited or turned off during this time.

This is to ensure our actions do not interfere with the Council election process and that it is fair for all.  

The City of Ballarat may be able to respond to some media questions, however this will be limited to operational matters.
