Lake Wendouree and Victoria Park could soon be bustling with a wide range of fun commercial activities, such as wandering vendors, paddle boats and canoes, or bikes for hire.
The City of Ballarat is seeking Commercial Expressions of Interest for traders with a unique service to operate in these areas to value-add to the visitor experience.
While the Lake Wendouree and Victoria Park precinct is already very popular, the aim is to:
- Enhance the enjoyment of, and cater to the requirements of, precinct visitors
- Offer a unique experience currently not offered elsewhere in the precinct
- Enhance current precinct recreational activities
- Complement the community and Ballarat City Council’s objectives of creating a harmonious yet dynamic precinct that balances commercial and entrepreneurial activity with its attractive character
City of Ballarat Mayor Cr Daniel Moloney said it was a fantastic opportunity for vendors from a wide range of sectors to help enliven the Lake Wendouree/Victoria Park precinct.
In particular, local businesses are strongly encouraged to apply. Proposals will be evaluated not just on their ability to enhance the quality of the experience for visitors to the area, but also on their capacity to stimulate local economic activity and employment opportunities.
“This beautiful area attracts thousands of visitors every year, but this is an amazing chance to provide some real value-adding to what is already one of our biggest tourist attractions,” Cr Moloney said.
“Imagine having colourful paddle boats on the lake or buying an ice-cream during a walk around Victoria Park.
“I would encourage unique service traders from all backgrounds to apply to help us make this naturally dynamic precinct even more attractive to visitors from all demographics.”
Expressions of Interest close on 8 October, and applications must be submitted through SmartyGrants at www.Ballarat.smartygrants.com.au/LWG CommercialInterestEOI.
