Ballarat to make a splash with first ever Dog Day Pool Party
Are you keen to take your four-legged friend to the ultimate Ballarat pool party? Then we have the perfect event for you!
The inaugural Dog Day Pool Party will be held on Sunday 23 April, giving you the chance to bring your dog along for a one-off swim in Eureka Pool.
The two-hour event will mark the end of the outdoor pool season in Ballarat, before Eureka Pool is closed to the public for winter.
It is the first time the event has been held in Ballarat and promises to be a fantastic way to treat your beloved pooch to an afternoon of swimming fun.
Similar events have been held at other pools in Victoria, with the City of Ballarat consulting with pools in the City of Greater Bendigo and the Yarra Ranges to learn from previous dog pool parties that have been held.
City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Des Hudson said the event was designed to provide Ballarat residents (and their pets) with a simple, fun, and cost-effective way to spend an afternoon.
The cost to attend is $5 per adult, $4.20 per child aged over five and dogs get in free.
“We know how many dog lovers exist in Ballarat and we think this is a great way to give them and their dogs an afternoon they will love,” Cr Hudson said.
“It is also another way to utilise our fantastic facilities like Eureka Pool in a diverse way and perhaps show people a venue they might not have visited before.
“However, we really do ask people follow the rules and make sure it is an enjoyable day for everybody.”
Anybody wishing to attend the Dog Day Pool Party is required to register beforehand via the Dog Day Pool Party registration form.
Additional pool rules will be in place on the day to maintain the safety of patrons and there will be a cap of numbers allowed into the pool at one time.
Dog owners are also reminded of their responsibility to remain in active control of their dogs.
To maintain effective control of your dog you must:
- carry a leash to bring your dog under control
- remain within voice or hand control and in constant sight of your dog at all times
- not allow your dog to worry or threaten any person or animal
The Dog Day Pool Party will be held on Sunday 23 April from 2pm-4pm.
