ANZAC Day services across Ballarat

Ballarat's Ex-POW Memorial

ANZAC Day services will be held across Ballarat on Monday to pay tribute and remember those men and women who have served the country.

Services will commence at the Ballarat Cenotaph in Sturt Street at 6am for the Dawn Service and follow with services at Cardigan at 7am, the Arch of Victory at 8am, Sebastopol at 8.45am, wreath laying service at the Australian Ex-Prisoners of War Memorial at 9am, Miners Rest at 10am and Buninyong at 10.15am.

City of Ballarat Acting Mayor, Cr Amy Johnson said organisers were expecting strong attendance across all services this ANZAC Day with COVID-19 restrictions easing for the first time in two years.

“This year, perhaps more than any other recently, ANZAC Day will have a deeper resonance,” she said.

“As we sadly watch the suffering and devastation in the Ukraine unfold, it strengthens our respect and gratitude for the sacrifices made by our service men and women past, present, and future.

“Ballarat has many outstanding landmarks that ensure we will never forget those that gave so much.

“At the Avenue of Honour, the Arch of Victory, Ballarat, Sebastopol and Miner’s Rest Cenotaphs, Ex-Prisoners of War Memorial, Buninyong Memorial Park or Cardigan’s Fireman’s Memorial, this ANZAC Day there is every opportunity for people to attend to honour and remember those that have served.”
