AFL action returns to Ballarat this weekend
AFL action returns to Ballarat this weekend, with the rescheduled Round 20 game between the Western Bulldogs and the Adelaide Crows at Mars Stadium on Saturday 31 July from 12.20pm.
The match will be played without a crowd, with the Victorian Government announcement on Tuesday (27/7) that no crowds will be allowed at AFL games for the next two weeks under current COVID restrictions.
Mayor Daniel Moloney said it was fantastic to have AFL football back in Ballarat for the third time in 2021.
“We’re thrilled to have the Western Bulldogs back playing at their second home at Mars Stadium,” he said.
“Once again our grounds and facilities management staff have done a magnificent job of preparing the venue for AFL and we look forward to a fantastic contest on the best surface in the league.”
“I know Ballarat footy fans, especially Dogs supporters, would love to be there on Saturday, but the current COVID restrictions mean that’s just not possible this time.”
“However, the match will be broadcast live, which gives us with another opportunity to showcase this fantastic stadium and Ballarat to a national audience.”
