The following statement is in response to enquiries from The Courier regarding the City of Ballarat's Gender Equality Action Plan.
Responses attributable to City of Ballarat Director Corporate Services, John Hausler.
City of Ballarat submitted a legislatively compliant Gender Equality Action Plan (GEAP) to the Commission for Gender Equality in the Public Sector as per the requirements of the Commission. We have not been made aware of any issues or discrepancies in the data submitted.
As outlined in the City of Ballarat Annual Report 2020/21, the organisation employs 705 Female and 456 Male staff across the organisation. A further breakdown of these numbers can be viewed on page 35 of the Annual Report.
The City of Ballarat has taken some positive steps as an organisation to contribute to a respectful, welcoming, and positive place for women and for everyone. It’s through the actions in our GEAP and our other workplace wellbeing policies and strategies that we can be encouraged by the pay parity and other equality markers met.
In an ever-evolving area the City of Ballarat is dedicated to workplace growth to ensure our staff conditions are fair and equitable.
