Ageing Well Services Team | ourballarat summer 2023-24

The City of Ballarat Ageing Well team looks a little different these days. With a new direction and some new faces, the Ageing Well Services team are passionate about ensuring Ballarat is an age-friendly community. This means people of all ages feel valued, connected, included and respected — confident to participate fully in life however they choose.

That’s why the focus of the Ageing Well Services team is to work with and advocate for residents aged 55 and over — providing support for them to age well. This includes a focus on healthy ageing, social and community connection. It also involves ensuring older residents are aware of and have access to the services and support they need to remain as independent as possible as they grow older. This will enable them to be and do what they value throughout their lives.

Meet some of the team

Vivian Meng
Social Activities Officer

You might see Vivian out and about at various City of Ballarat activities and events. That’s because, as her job title suggests, Vivian’s role involves facilitating the creation of new social activities. She is also an important member of the team and is responsible for delivering the annual Senior’s Festival — a month of events, activities and workshops designed to celebrate older Ballarat residents. The festival aims to help older residents feel valued and stay healthy and active. Vivian enjoys helping Ballarat’s seniors improve their wellbeing and social life.

Jeneene Coyle
Community Connector

As a Community Connector, Jeneene helps Ballarat’s older residents connect with and navigate government-funded services. She links them with other services, programs and supports that focus on health and wellbeing. The aim of the Community Connector role is to empower people to make informed decisions so they can age well. Jeneene enjoys
listening to and learning from older generations and helping them connect with the broader Ballarat community.

Tara Phillips
Regional Assessment Service Assessor

With a background in aged care nursing, Tara works as an Assessor in Ballarat’s Regional Assessment Service* — the entry point to accessing the Commonwealth-funded My Aged Care services for residents 65 years and over. Tara’s role involves assessing clients for their care needs and helping the client develop a goal-oriented support plan. Tara enjoys the social aspect of her job most — meeting new people every day and hearing their stories.
