The City of Ballarat is a signatory to the Grampians Regional Plan to Prevent Violence Against Women: Communities of Respect and Equality (CoRE) 2016-2020. A Grampians-wide strategy to prevent violence against women and promote gender equity.

Preventing Violence and Injury is also one of three priority areas in our Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan 2017-21, with the objective of reducing the prevalence of family violence and increasing gender equity.

Victorian laws protect any person who feels unsafe at home. Family violence can occur in many different forms, including emotional, sexual and physical intimidation and control.
