A visitor-led recovery

City of Ballarat Visitor Economy Coordinator Joel Chadwick says some of the businesses hardest hit during last year’s lockdowns were our baristas, chefs, bakers and hotel and retail staff.

“We want to do everything we can to support them to recover,” he says.

Joel says visitors are vital to Ballarat’s economy with tourism injecting $553 million into the Ballarat economy in pre-pandemic times.

“That money flows into our community through the businesses and their staff and families.”
